Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba Workshop

Professor Micaela Diaz Sanchez hosted an Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba workshop with Hector Luis Rivera Ortiz on May 8, 2019. This workshop was held as part of the Chicana/o Studies 156: Afro-Latina/o/x Diasporic Performance course that Professor Diaz-Sanchez taught in Spring 2019.

Here is Hector Luis Rivera Ortiz's bio:

Born and Raised in the Bronx, Hector has been illuminating the mic since 1990 with music and roots song. He has led groups like the award-winning political group, Welfare Poets (1990-2006), the Puerto Rican Bomba group in Chicago, Buya (2008-2010), the Santa Ana Hip Hop duo, Taino Sunz (2012), and Puerto Rican Bomba group in Southern California, Cunya (2015-2017). Hecvortex is also a co-founder of Peace Inside Out: Personal and Community Transformation Through Arts, Restoration, Community, an Health.
