On  February 17-18, 2023, the "Sal Castro Memorial Conference on the Emerging Historiography of the Chicano Movement and the Long History of Mexican American Civil Rights Struggles" will host a special symposium which honors the work and legacy of Dr. Mario T. Garcia, who will retire from his position as faculty member of the UCSB Chicana and Chicano Studies Department.

As of November 29th, the deadline for submitting applications for the Chicana and Chicano Studies Ph.D. Program has been extended to December 15th, 2021. Applicants who intend to apply to our program should contact their letter of recommendation writers of the new deadline.
