The Hungry Woman Staged Reading + Symposium
The year 2019 celebrates the 50th anniversary of Chicano Studies. The tenets of that original movement for a sovereign education grew into what are now thriving Chicana[x]/Latina[x] programs throughout the country. In recognition of the 50th, the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center, Office of the Dean of Humanities, Las Maestras Center for Xicana[x] Indigenous Thought, Art and Social Practice, the Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies and the Multicultural Center have collaborated to host a full afternoon’s discussion and performative presentations in conversation with the The Hungry Woman. Presenters include visiting and UCSB scholar-activists-artists and students.
